Care tips

We've taken great care to bring you fresh, beautiful flowers and plants. You can keep them lovely with just a little extra care.

Here's how:

For cut flowers: (also good for cut flowers from your home garden)

• change the water and re-cut stems daily
  
• add 1 teaspoon chlorine bleach and 1 teaspoon of a clear soft drink (Sprite, 7 Up) to the water in your vase
  
• cut the flower stems under water
  
  • immerse the stems in a bowl of fresh water
    
  • cut the stem ends, removing about ½" of stem
    
• immediately place the cut flowers in your vase
  
• this will make your flowers last 4-5 days longer

For floral arrangements:

• check daily to see if the foam base is wet
  
• add water to the container to keep the foam moist

For green & blooming plants:

• check the care card that comes with your plant
  
• select a spot that will provide the light and temperature required
  
• don't overwater
  • check the soil near the roots for moisture
  • insert the point of a wooden pencil into one of the holes in the bottom of the pot
  • if the pencil comes out dark (wet), your plant doesn't need water
    
• when purchasing a plant for a specific location in your house, select a plant that will thrive with the light level and temperature in that location
